Webby Winner

In viewing the webby winner for best aesethitc, I now understand why it is so important for a website to have such great visual appeal. It makes the site more interesting and people will want to see what else is on the site. I found it amazing that the Saab website was actually able to include every aspect of aesthetic appeal, including "individual."
I think what made the website so entertaining was the fact that it was so visually appealing. It was amusing to watch the chairs shift and the plates be added to the table when the site wanted you to opt how many people would be sitting at your table.
It may seem like a shallow notion, but in the web world, looks really do matter.

  1. I agree, in the web world, looks really DO matter. But I don't think those necessarily have to be good looks. As long as they're interesting, and maybe, something I've never seen before, I'll want to look more.

  2. Looks totally matter in the web world. I agree with TFO, it could be like something so gruesome you can't take your eyes off (horror movie site) of it or it could be something so beautiful you can't take your eyes off it (flower photo site.)Can work both ways! I think it can be applied to every aspect of life tho. For instance, have you ever seen some models without their makeup on? I think that falls into the category of horror movie material, can't stop staring!

  3. Well I am third person to start of my comment with the same statement! Looks do matter on the web. I mean look at the few sites out of millions that exist that won a Webby Award. In a world where we are always bombarded with marketing, it takes smart people to dream up and create effective and unique websites.

  4. Agreed! By looks, I think it just needs to be attention and eye grabbing, nothing too ordinary or else users will become bored. And idk if this falls under "looks," but the fact that you didnt have to wait for the page to load adds a lot to someone's satisfaction of the site.

  5. It is so true that looks and presentation matter on the web. I know that if I get the feeling that a site is below par or disorganized, I am less likely to return to it or purchase from it.
